Research
In the first few weeks, our team took a deep dive into exploring the Tarte Cosmetic brand and its competitive landscape. We gathered and analyzed stakeholder and consumer preferences, challenges and aspirations for buying cosmetics online.


Design
Visual Direction
Our research and analysis efforts culminated into 2 distinct visual direction Tarte cosmetics is known for their natural ingredients, so the team focused on contextualizing this within the visuals. We created two mood boards with distinct directions to understand what the client gravitated towards.
Process
Visual Sprints
Our UX team carefully analyzed Tarte’s existing website and architected a new customer journey which included everything from the homepage to checkout. Each round, the UX team would provide wireframes for our visual design team to implement . The process included 5 different sprints, where we would meet with the client every 2 weeks to present and rationalize our work and findings.


Implement
Design System
The next step was to create a design system that ensured an efficient process. We tackled this with an atomic design approach and designed components starting from smallest to largest. It was important for us to work closely with the developers as this was a key element for a successful launch.
